Sir Jack brabham (Australia) won the first of his three F1 World Championships in 1959 with 31 points, he had a tough challenge from Sir Stirling Moss, who had the lead going into the final round but retired and gave Brabham the win and championship.

Alberto Ascari won the 1953 Formula One World Championship and in doing so became the first driver to win two World Championships; he won again driving a Ferrari and with 34.5 points.

He was also a World Champion in 1952.
