not all race tracks run counter-clockwise , Brands Hatch, Mallory Park, and I think Donington Park are examples that run clockwise . No they can be set up to run either way .

AintreeNot quite true.... Donington Park hosted the EuropeanGrand Prix in 1993... never the BGP. Aintree hosted the British Grand Prix in the late '50's and early 60's and Brands is legendary
