Whether justified, of course, is a matter of one's point of view, but Silverstone has hosted the British F1 Grand Prix more times than any other venue, and was the venue for the very first official F1 World Championship grand Prix in 1950. Other venues have been Brands Hatch and Aintree and the "European Grand Prix" has been held at Donington Park.
Aintree, brands hatch, silverstone are the world championship circuits that have held the british GP, although Donnington held the European GP on Easter weekend in 1993 ( senna won ) and I think Goodwood have held non championship GP's in the 50's
