JJ Yeleys Birth name is Christopher Beltram Hernandez-Yeley

While JJ 's Mother was in labor- his father Jack and his "Almost Uncle" Jimmy - stood vigil. Before they decided on his Birth name- they nicknamed him JJ. (short for Jimmy Jack).

His Grandmother is the only one who actually ever calls him Christopher- the Hernandez was given to him in honor of his grandfather who died before JJ was born. His Mother had not taken his Fathers name at the time of his birth. When JJ began his racing career, JJ added his Fathers last name of Yeley. He felt it was a "good Racing name". Instead of getting rid of Hernandez, JJ just hyphenated it. JJ's father is a seven-time Arizona Midget Racing champion and two- time World of Outlaws midget champion "Cactus" Jack Yeley.
