It depend on a number of variables, the sponsors and number of sponsors, the contract they signed, and more importantly, "How good they are" Bonuses can/could be paid for hole-shots, wins, places and so-on. The more wins they have, the more valuable they become. Ricky Carmichael had a contract with Honda for 2 million dollars a year. So if they are good enough, the monies can be substantial.

Well in fmx, basically if well known, and stay in the tops 1-3 in events u will be making around 200,000 a year. So basically if u want to make a living amount, u gotta be in the mulisha. The only well know riding group. If ur talking MX only then again if u want to make a living u have to be good, like top 1-10 in races all the time.
$10.000.000 per season

it appends on how good they do in the races , James Stewert made 10 million one year
It depends on how much you win and how many sponsors you have. Sponsors and endorsements contribute more to wages then race winings do.
