Yes, he does. In November 2004, Tony purchased the Eldora Speedway. It is a 0.5 mile dirt track in New Weston, Ohio. Located near Rossburg, Ohio.
Nascar driver Tony Stewart has the nickname "Rushville Rocket". Rushville, Indiana is the city where he won alot of dirt track races in the beginning of his racing career. If you drive thru the city there are signs that state "Welcome to Rushville, Home of the "Rushville Rocket", Tony Stewart." These signs are somewhat misleading. Although he did alot of racing there, his actual boyhood home is in Columbus, Indiana, which is about 40 miles south.
Tony is co-owner of Stewart-Haas Racing. He also owns a World of Outlaws team. Tony is full owner of Eldora Speedway, a dirt track at Rossburg, OH, and co-owner of a track in Paducah, KY and one in Moline, IL. He owns several other small companies that have nothing to do with racing. He is also the founder of The Tony Stewart Foundation which his mother runs for him.
I do not know if Glenn Bradley won the race. But, I do know Tony came in behind him. Glenn is my husband to be. The general attitude between Tony and him is not a friendly one either. And, the two have traded lots of paint in their days. Glenn is retirering from dirt track racing now and only does it on occasions when friends can't race their cars. But, he will miss trading paint with Tony!
Tony Stewart has two nicknames. He has been called Smoke and has taken that nickname and turned it into a merchandising label. He has also been called the Rushville Rocket.Smoke. He got it from his dirt track days when he first started racing midgets and he would "smoke" his back tires during the starts.
The Indianapolis 500 is the most popular auto race in Indiana.
Dirt Track Date was created in 1995.
My personal favorite is by Cindy Lou who sings a song called, "Dirt Track Racing" on her album Winning Heart. You can listen to it on her Myspace page There are other artists that sing about dirt tracks like, "Dirt Track Cowboy" by Adam Brand, "Life is like a dirt track" by Lapskin and "Dirt Track Date" by Southern Culture on the Skids.
