In a report published in 2006 by the US gov CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) from 2001-2004 that 23,000 people were treated across the US for injuries sustained on dirt bikes (racing or trail riding). Of those injuries, 245 resulted in death.
yes i can be very deadly but the most people have problems on jumps. I very nearly broke my neck on a jump and a friend died from his suspension snaping from a jump he clearly could not do. If your not confident on a jump, do not attempt it! But if you live in England i suggest you train with Dave thorpe 3 times world champion he will boost your confidence very quickley as i have been training with him for a year every 2 weeks. Hope this helps.
No way of knowing this, several amateur racing deaths over the years are not kept up with. Why all of this obsession with deaths and dirt bikes?
