It was a showcase for the Nazis and their ideology. Jesse Owens managed to upset their racial superiority concepts by way of his stellar performance.

Hitler got dominated by other countries and his superior race was not all that good.

FYI... Hitler was not dominated, he dominated. Germany did well, and had the most total medal count. The fact that Jesse Owens was thought to be inferior to the Nazis, and he won four gold medals, outshines the fact of Germany dominating the games.
