Because you're not doing them properly.
The best way to get into a full split is to first straighten both legs, then concentrate on lowering yourself and stretching. A lot of dancers worry about their height and then work on straightening their legs, which makes it harder to progress and do the splits properly.

∙ 10y agobecause you haven't stretched it out... a back bend rarely comes naturally to gymnasts . not being stereo typical but Chinese gymnasts may seem extremely bendy how ever stretch to unbelievable measures keep stretching and you will get there.
It could be because you are not stretched properly. Try doing a bar stretch first.

Right splits are splits with your right leg in fron of you.
Which leg do you not want to have? Bend that leg back at the knee and keep it folded behind you. Good luck keeping it that way.

Get into a position like a lunge with one leg forward and bent, and the other leg stretched straight back. Then, bend you torso back and push your back leg down without bending your knee. You should feel a stretch in the front hip area of your straight leg.
Great stretches to do are the runners stretch and straddle. In runners stretch work everyday until you can put your elbows on the ground and see a clean line down your body. In straddle stretch to both side but do not round your back. Keep it straight so eventually you can put your chest flat you your leg. Another great stretch to do it get in a split position (right or left leg in front) and bend your front leg so that your foot is under you. Try and Bend your back leg up and grab it with your opposite hand and stretch it. Also, when practicing your split if you are not all of the way down keep your knees completely straight so you can stretch out the muscles and tendons around your groin. Happy Stretching!
