More importantly though, it is a game of skill, precision, and technique. The greatest athlete in the world can walk on to a Basketball court or a football field with absolutely no experience and still perform well. But that same athlete is still going to have quite a learning curve when it comes to learning how to hit a curve ball.
I love baseball for its details and intricasies. It may not seem the case, but at any given instant, there is so many subtle things going on in a baseball game. Realizing all of these hard-to-notice instances is very exciting.
The second I hear some complain that baseball is boring, I KNOW without doubt that they just don't understand the game on a deep enough level to truly apreciate it.
And there you have it. Baseball, in my opinion is the most "interesting" game in the world.
According to Tim Kurkjian's "Is This a Great Game or What?", there are a number of reasons why many consider it the best sport-- by far.
1. It is the only sport where the defense controls the ball.
2. There is no clock; a game, an inning, an at bat can last, theoretically, forever.
3. It has the best All-Star Game.
4. It has the best uniforms.
No other sport has the tradition of the visitors wearing their city name on a gray uniform, while the home team wears their whites.
5. It is the oldest sport in the US.
with references back to the early 1800's.
6. It has the best Championship Games.
Play a single game in a neutral city? Forget it. Baseball plays the best of 7 in the teams' home cities.
7. It is the most complex skill game.
You can draft a basketball player or football player out of college, throw him in his first professional game, and he can make a difference. Draft ten #1 catchers and maybe 2 will end up in the Majors in baseball. ALL players go to the minors for usually 1000 at bats because there's just too much to learn.
8. Everyone plays offense and defense.
9. You can't "kill the clock."
You're leading by 3 runs in the 9th inning? You still have to make quality pitches and throw strikes to the other team, so everyone has a chance to win.
10. Anyone who has played can identify with the fear of the ball.
Fear of the ball is the underlying reality in professional and all levels of amateur baseball. This is what pitchers use to define their strategies, and what makes baseball a unique game.
11. They have the best Hall of Fame.
That's just a start.
I enjoy sports because they are fun to me and they keep me in shape.
Yes, of course they do, anybody can like sports, even if they are goth
I think that is a stereotype. You don't HAVE to like sports to be a man.
Cause they do
