No, Dunlop actually began producing the Blue Max in 1973. I was working in the corporate Dunlop Tire and Sporting goods product development group in Buffalo at the time. The Blue Max was one of, if not the first, ball with a Surlyn (synthetic rubber) cover.
Before that, all balls were made with Balata covers (natural rubber) which was very hard and cut very easily.

No, that will make the golf ball slippery and hard to play with.
Don't know what your source is for that but it is incorrect. Mens and womens golf balls are the same size. The maximum diameter of a golf ball is 1.68 inches, most manufacturers make them to that size.
In My Opinion, It's OK. They Do Make Fair Golf Balls And Clubs.
They make the ball aerodynamic and allow the ball to fly.
Please seperate the red balls from the blue balls.
There are several places to obtain personalized golf balls. For in store options there are Dick's Sporting Goods and Golf Galaxy. There are also plenty of online options that can be found with a little research.
No, these balls are not legal for use in competition. This is because these balls are sold as practice balls so the manufacturer does not make a request to R&A and USGA that they be added to the list of conforming golf balls, if they are not on this list, you can't use them. But I have seen people play with them in club competition and everyone seems oblivious that they are illegal.
