I don't imagine anyone will be able to answer this one precisely, so I will give you an educated guess. In 1959, the best 50y dash by a school girl was propably 6.0-6.4 seconds on a stopwatch (not electronically timed). As I have coached many fine school girl sprinters from the late 60s onward, I am confident that no school girl ran faster than 6.0 in the late 50s. Today, anything under 6.8 would be considered good, and anything under 6.4 excellent for a high school girl, with the top runners a bit under 6.0 -- but today young women have far better and more extensive training and diets than they had in 1959.
The average speed of the world record in the 100m dash is around 37.58 km/h (23.35 mph).
Bob Hayes has the world record in the 100 yard dash. This record was set in the year 1963. This is a separate race from the 100 meter dash.
Austin Crawford (Dallas, Texas) 50 meter dash world record: 4.98 second
20:58 ...Usain Bolt
The men's world record in the 400 meter dash is 43.18 seconds. The men's world record in the 400 meter hurdles is 46.78 seconds. This is a difference of 3.60 seconds. The women's world record in the 400 meter dash is 47.60 seconds. The women's world record in the 400 meter hurdles is 52.34 seconds. This is a difference of 4.74 seconds.
Usain Bolt holds the world record at 9.69 seconds for the 100 meter dash. Usain Bolt holds the world record at 19.30 seconds for the 200 meter dash. Michael Johnson holds the world record at 43.18 seconds for the 400 meter dash. So I would say Usain Bolt.
