The heavy metal ball (shot) is cradled in one hand against the side of the neck. The thrower assumes a semi-crouch, then turns or spins to gain momentum. At the proper point, he uncrouches to full height, pushing the shot forward with the entire body as the arm extends straight from the shoulder, to thrust it outward and upward. This "explosion" of bodily motion imparts the necessary velocity to the shot.
Its good to have a run up like 3 steps and at the start i tend to do like a swing with my arms then run up. Im really upset because i was a realllllyyyy good shot puter and then a new girl came and she is really! big. she is throwing 8.70 and im throwing 7.98 . it sucks , all i want to do is win that. u have no idea how upset i am. i hope you can go well and remember its good to hold the shotput in your fingertips. serious. good luckamber Cullen
Look up glide technique, it will improve your throw after a few weeks of training correctly (make sure you have a coach there to help with the technique). Also do weight training, plyometrics, sprinting and practice drills.
Here are a few tips. Keep your elbow up when throwing- dropping the elbow wastes a lot of potential power and therefore weakens the throw. Try to throw at a 45 degree angle- don't throw too high or too low. Use your legs- even though the throw comes from the arm, much of the power is from the legs, so stay low and use that power in a powerful burst that will help the object fly farther.
Both can utilize a spin technique to throw the implement.
There are two correct technique for shot put. Don't be fooled by the big strong people who scream. They are either using the Glide or the spin technique. There are many pages online about how to do them. Personally, I use the power position. I have made over 40' easy with that. And note, I can only bench like 110lbs and my arms are weak. But i have been doing track for 5 years. But to answer your question, any technique that is comfortable for you is the correct technique. hopes this helps, fellow athlete
It depends on how many people there are. Their technique. Shot put is not a scheduled thing. It can last fifteen minutes to maybe even an hour. It also depends on how many trials you get.
There are currently only two styles of shot-put: Glide, and spinning.
Look up Ulf Timmerman, Randy Barnes, and Udo Beyer. They were the best of the best in shot put.

Put ball on dominent hand and stand sideways. Ur back leg should go a far down a possible (without ur knee going further than your toes) and push up at a 60-80 degree angle.
Simply put: No. Not by a long shot.
I'm not sure what you are asking, but I have seen kids as young as 5 or 6 throw shot put and elderly people into their 90's throw shot put. The best shot putters in the world are probably in their late 20s to early 30's.
