There are two correct technique for shot put. Don't be fooled by the big strong people who scream. They are either using the Glide or the spin technique.

There are many pages online about how to do them. Personally, I use the power position. I have made over 40' easy with that. And note, I can only bench like 110lbs and my arms are weak. But i have been doing track for 5 years.

But to answer your question, any technique that is comfortable for you is the correct technique.

hopes this helps,

This question is very vague, so I'm going to try my best. In the sport of shotput, as the name suggest, you put (or throw) a shot (usually an iron/steel ball) as far as you possibly can. There are three (major) ways to throw the shotput.

Power:

A power shotput throw is where you plant your feet, put the shot on your neck, and then bend back and then lunge forward with the shot. Don't throw the shot like a Baseball, try to "flick" the shotput.

Glide: a glide shotput throwing technique is where you start at the back of the ring, and glide to the front, then complete a power throw. The glide adds thrust and momentum to the shot, so it goes farther, obviously.

Spin: A spin technique, close to a discus technique, Is where the shotputter spins with the shot in hand to the front of the circle and then releases. This is the most common shotput technique in the event. The world record of 23.12 meters was set using this, so I'd recommend if you ever get into throwing to use this technique.

That was a very, very dumbed down explanation of shot put techniques (or skills). I hope this answers your questions.
