Age is of very little importance to running a 5K race. As long as you are in good shape and are confident in your ability to complete your goal, you are able to take part in a 5K race.
I've been running 5k for around 6 eweks now (previously unable to run full 5k). I started out at 42 mins but now running 5k in 36.04. I'm still about 30 pounds over my desired weight so hope to improve further. Hope this helps.

I would say it is a completely respectable time and let's me know that there is plenty of potential. You will plateau if you do not maintain running in the off season. I ran X-C in HS and college so I know what I am talking about.

try the couch to 5k. Google it and you can also download podcasts to your ipod. I just started it myself. I am running my 1st 5k this November.

If you constantly run on a treadmill and practice, running six miles is a good starting point to being able to run a 5k marathon.
Getting good grades in school, climbing Mount Everest, making a sport team, running 5K, etc.
