Jesse Owens was a black athlete from the U.S.A , in the Munich games he became the first athlete to win 4 medals (Carl Lewis later equaled it.) This was an embarrassment to Hitler, who's subtext of the 1936 games was to demonstrate "Aryan superiority". Hitler was especially infuriated by the silver medal winning blond, Nordic German man, who, after Owens won his fourth medal, grabbed Owens' hand, held it aloft, and shouted "Jesssseee Owwensss! True story, reported by all of the news media of that time.
