Louise Stokes of Malden Massachusetts and Tidye Pickett of Chicago, both sprinters, were members of the 1932 U.S. Olympic team. Neither, however, competed at the games when AOC officials selected other runners to compete in the 100-meter run and 4 X100 meter relay. Both women also made the team in 1936. Pickett competed in the 80-meter hurdles, but broke a foot on a hurdle and was unable to compete in the remainder of the games. Once again, however, Louise Stokes did not compete when AOC officials again selected other athletes to compete.
