Basic skills in table tennis--I have been playing tennis for 7 years. I played all 4 years of high school and took tennis classes at my local college. The basic skills I first learned back in my first years of learning tennis were the correct ready position, learning the groundstrokes (forehand and backhand), working the net (volleys and overheads). Serving is a very important skill to get down. If you can't get the serve down well, you will lose a lot of game points. Also the placement of balls (cross-court and down the line shots) and moving around the court in a timely manner.

You should choose a table tennis racket which complements your style of play.
Table tennis is a sport where each level is a progression of skills. The level of attack in table tennis means the players have reached the level where the attack takes priority over the offense.
