Golf in the 60's was vastly different than it is today. Players would play courses that were a lot shorter, the upkeep of the courses wasn't as good and neither was the equipment.

The woods and drivers were made out of wood, and had steel shafts, the grips were usually leather or a cheaper substitute. The irons were all cast and were mainly blades, as cavity backs had not been developed. V grooves were used so there wasn't as much spin.
