The female equivalent of the men's 110 meters hurdles is the women's 100 meters hurdles. While both events involve sprinting and clearing hurdles, the women's event features a shorter distance of 100 meters and lower hurdle heights compared to the men's 110 meters hurdles. The women's hurdles also have a different number of hurdles, with 10 hurdles spaced evenly along the track.

Because the hurdles for men are set at different distances from the starting line than for women. For example: The mens hurdles start at the blue line, so the womens would start about 2 inches away at the yellow line. Additionally, elite men's stride length would not allow them to hurdle at the distance that womens hurdles are set at; it's simply too short.
