The old Olympic 200 hurdles was the 220 yard low-hurdles: 20 yd to the first hurdle 20 yd between hurdles 20 yd from the last hurdle to the finish This race was contested over low hurdles (30") and was dropped from the the Olympic roster after the 1904 Olympics.
For the 110m hurdles, the first hurdle is placed after a run up of 13.72m (45 ft) from the starting line. The next nine hurdles are set at a distance of 9.14m (30 ft) from each other, and the home stretch from the last hurdle to the finish line is 14.02m (46 ft) long.
Assuming you are talking about an above high school or college male athlete, there is typically 8 steps to the first hurdle and 3 steps in between each of the remaining 4 hurdles. The runout after the last hurdle will depend but likely 4-5 steps. The total is 24-25 steps.

There are exactly 10 hurdles in the 100m women's! roughly 8 steps to the first hurdle from the starting point, and 3-5 steps in between each hurdle, depending on if you're in junior varsity or varsity (from a high school POV)

There is the 60-meter dash, 100-meter dash, The 200 and 400 meter races, 110-meter high hurdles or 400-meter intermediate hurdles, 100 hurdles(usually the ladies), the 800(half a mile), 1,600 (1 mile) and 3,200 (2 mile), three "relay" events which are the 4x100, 4x400 or 4x800, then there are the field events which are discus, shot put, hammer, javelin, long jump, triple jump, high jump and pole vault. It also depends if your in middle school, high school, or college because each do certain events.
