There are many strategies involved. The most common of these is to accelerate as fast as possible in the first 100 meters, then conserve your energy and maintain speed for the back straight away. Finally kick with everything you have left for the last 200m. If you're not quit fit enough to maintain such a long kick, the finish is the most important. Many reports I've seen say that your first 200m should be a tiny bit slower than your fastest. One other thing to keep in mind is that you have to stay in the race to be able to pull it out in the end. Never let the competition get too far ahead.
Training and dedication. But the most important is to finish first
