Believe it or not, hole in ones on par fours are quite common. Par fours start at around 260 yards or so, so this is is range for many golfers.
A hole in one is very easy to score in a game of Golf. This rare feat would earn you one point. If the hole is a par 4, then you would be three under par, or -3.
Birdie: one under par for that hole e.g. 3 on a par 4 Bogey: one over the par for that hole e.g. 5 on a par 4 eagle: two under the par for that hole e.g 3 on a par 5 or 2 on a par 4
Every hole has a par rating - usually 3, 4 or 5. One under means one less than this. So on a par 4 hole a score of 3 is one under par. This is called a birdie.
A hole in one
Par is set by the course designer and will yake into account the length of the hole and potential difficulty. Usually a par 72 course will have 2-4 par five hole and the same number of par 3 holes. All other will be par 4. This is a classic or historical course design.
An eagle is scored when you get 2 under par. EX: Par 4 hole you score a 2. Par 4: 1- Hole in One 2- Eagle 3- Birdie 4- Par 5- Bogey
Its harder to get a hole in one on a par 3. Its common to be chipping from around the green or even putting on your 2nd shot on a par 4.
In golf a birdie is one under par on a given hole. So a 2 on a par 3, 3 on a par 4 and 4 on a par 5.
A "birdie" is not a specific score, it's one under whatever par for the hole is. If it's a par 3 hole, then a birdie is 2; if it's a par 5 hole, a birdie is 4.
