Well, of course they do. Without a bone structure we would be glue to the ground. Hypothetical speaking. Are bones contain marrow which acts like a support beam. It prevents us from the power of gravity. Gravity pulls in anything with a small density then itself. The marrow prevents that and without the bones, we would be gum on the sidewalk, lifeless and motionless.

So to answer your question, bones do help. Without them, we would be motionless.
