BMX bikes usually haven't got gear hubs. Cheapest way to get one is to buy a whole wheel with the hub you want built into it already from the beginning. Of courese you can have someone replace the hub in the existing wheel, which is every biut as much work as building a new wheel from scratch. You'll also need a set of clamps and brackets for the shifter cable. You're probably restricted to an internally geared hub, as externally geared hubs pretty much require a frame that's built to take them from the beginning.
It'd be a fairly strange BMX if it has a gear shaft. Most "real" BMXes are single speed, their driveline consists of cranks, a bottom bracket and the rear hub. No gear shaft there.
No. a 9T sprocket will only fit a cassette hub, and not freewheel hubs.
Both Eatern and Haro buys their sprocket from other manufacturers, and the sprockets don't really care what bike they're put on. However, there are two different types of BMX hubs, and sprockets can only be moved between hubs of the same type.
Two, but this is not the same as how many speeds the BMX bike in question has. A BMX bike has a sprocket in the front, and a cog in the back and each is a gear, but is considered a single speed bicycle because two gears and a chain are required for transmission of rotational force from the crankset to the rear wheel.
There's usually not much point in changing hubs, as that requires tearing the wheels completely apart - spoke by spoke. and unless the flanges of the new hubs are within mm of the same size the old spokes won't fit. Often cheaper simply to buy new wheels. But if you insist: remove every spoke from the hub + rim , then lace up the new hubs to the old rim, tension and true.
