Nakedness was their traditional attire for sport and the baths. They had an admiration for the human body as is evidenced in their statuary. Of course, they were fit people who kept their bodies in good shape, unlike the fatness which is becoming the 'new normal' today.

In fact in Greece they thought pants were girly.

The Greek tradition of athletic nudity came in 720 BC, either by the Spartans or by the Megarian Orsippus, and this was adopted early in the Olympics as well.

The Ancient Greeks did not have the later hang-ups about nudity. Nudity at the games facilitated movement.

B/c fashion, ethics and morals aren't fixed, but changes over time. And in the times of the ancient olympics, nude was the way to be when competing in sports.
