∙ 8y agoAs Pittsburgh's starting third baseman in 1922, Pie Traynor's name normally is overlooked when it comes to MLB's all time greats. Pie, however, was not overlooked by Baseball's great manager, John McGraw. Trynor was a great hitter with a lifetime batting average of .320 which includes his 1923 season with the Pirates where he batted .338 with 208 hits, 101 RBI's and 108 runs scored. In his seventeen years in baseball he only had 53 home runs but that's deceiving. With a total of 1,002 RBI's he leads for example Mickey Mantle who had 368 home runs and 1,000 RBI's.His record surpasses such baseball greats as Harmon Killebrew, Willie Mays, and Mike Schmidt.
What is remarkable is that no one with as few as his 53 home runs is even close.

∙ 8y agoEach Major League baseball team is allowed a roster of 40 players, 25 of which may be active for any game. The remainder may be divided among players listed on the Disabled List, restricted, suspended, on approved absent (berevement, family emergency, etc.) or assigned to one of the teams minor league affiliates.
Although it may not be a complete accounting, according to Sean Forman (the founder of Baseball-Reference.com) in an interview he did on RedSoxNation in 2005, there were 16,208 players listed on Baseball-Reference.com through the 2004 season. -----As of the start of the 2007 season, that number is now 16,440.

You have a Milwaukee Braves team signed baseball. With the names you listed I could only narrow it down to the years 1956, 1957, and 1958 the three years that Fred Haney managed the team and the players listed played on.A 1957 Milwaukee Braves Team Signed Baseball with the key signatures: Schoendienst, Aaron, Mathews, Spahn, and Burdette is worth about $1,100-$1,800 Value is based on average prices of recently closed auctions. Prices may vary based on condition, and the type of authenticity that accompanies the baseball. Prices may also vary based on the amount of signatures, and key signatures acquired. The more complete the baseball with key signatures the more valuable. If the signatures are not properly authenticated the baseball could sell at half the market value or less. In two recent auctions a 1957 Milwaukee Braves Team Signed Baseball sold for $1,015.75, and $1,673.00 I have viewed a Lot of baseballs, and have not found one baseball signed Henry Aaron. All the baseballs are signed Hank Aaron. If your baseball is signed Henry Aaron you might have a Milwaukee Braves souvenir baseball worth about $50.-$75. If in fact it is a hand signed baseball the Hank Aaron signature rarely signed "Henry" will add extra value. The baseball you have could also be from 1956 (worth $450-$650.) or 1958 (worth $525. -$800.) You need to determine what year the baseball is from. Visit the Team Signed Baseball Price Guide link I left below. (Related Links) The price guide features links to full team rosters to help you figure out what year the baseball is from. Searching for the players that played the least amount of time for the team will help you figure it out quicker. Once you have narrowed it down to one year the price guide also provides a list of key signatures for that year. These signatures are the most important on getting top value.

Yes. We have played in USSSA Baseball leagues for several years and have seen previous books. Not all players from all teams are listed, only those that excelled.
