It depends on what part of the season you are talking about_pre-season, regular season, or playoffs. It also depends on how far you go in the playoffs.
It's hard to give one definitive answer to this because it is always easy to put a "choke" label on someone or a team. Certainly, San Jose has not been able to transfer its regular season success to the playoffs. Injuries to key players are always there. Some players simply can't perform well in pressure situations. Also, as you go deeper into the playoffs, you meet better teams. Sometimes you just can't beat those better teams no matter how a team tries.

In hockey, there can be no tie. If there is a tie after regulation time, they go to a 5 minute overtime, and if it is still tied they go to a shootout until there is a winner. That is the regular season rule. However in the playoffs, there is no shootout but rather overtime until the tie is broken.

Otherwise to get a hockey scholarship, it is best to play on a Junior A team that has a good record in order to have University Hockey scouts come watch the Junior A games. Most Junior A teams have University scouts watch games, but only stand out players will be approached by the scouts.
