Currently, that distinction goes to Tony LaRussa of the St. Louis Cardinals who has been managing since 1979. He managed the final 54 games for the White Sox in 1979 and stayed with them until being fired after 64 games in the 1986. He was hired shortly thereafter by the Oakland Athletics and managed the final 79 games for them in the 1986 season. He stayed with Oakland through the 1995 season. He started with the St. Louis Cardinals at the start of the 1996 season and has been there since. He led the Athletics to three World Series, winning one, and the Cardinals to two World Series, winning one.
