The tallest player to ever play in the NFL was 7'0". He was drafted by the Oakland Raiders in the 10th round in 1967. His name was, Richard Sligh.

As for active players, as of the 2009 season, there were 3 active guys that all stood 6'9", they were, Jared Gaither of the Baltimore Ravens, Dennis Roland of the Cincinnati Bengals and Demar Dotson of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Eric Heiling is at 7'0 @358 LBS. Played for the LA Raiders and was a beast in his time. Five years after being drafted by the Raiders he blew out both knees and had to retire from the NFL.
