Throughout history, people have played sports involving ball and using hands, feet and sticks. Each local area had their own rules so there was no definitive global definition of any sport. Football or soccer can be traced back to all kinds of cultures:

• The oldest of which - Episkyros or Phaininda - was played 2000 BC (4000 years ago) in Ancient Greece.
• Some say that one of the earliest forms of soccer was traced back to 1004 BC in Japan.
• Organised football probably began in China about 1000 BC. A ball of animal skins stuffed with feathers or hair was kicked between two 10-meter high poles, probably as part of military training. way before that it was a game where Mayans or Incas used the heads of dead enemies. They kicked it back and forth to prove who were the best warriors.
• Soccer was invented by two villages in Scotland in the Middle Ages. To resolve their differences - other then having a long and bloody battle - the two villages elders found a diffrent way to this the answer is to what we know now as soccer. Two posts where set up at each village and the first to put the ball between the posts won and the argument was resolved. Playing the game was not easy though the two villages were three miles apart and the ball was made of a pigs rhind stuffed tightly with sheeps wool. All the men within the villages played using their hands and feet a (challenge) game could last for days and was done on a regular basis. The most common use of this (challenge) was done with rival families opposing a marriage between two persons from the different villages.
• In the 1300's, King of England Edward III banned football, hockey and handball. This shows a difference between sports using the feet, hands and sticks.
• It was said that about 1,000 years ago soccer was invented by kings, who would have their prisoners' heads chopped off to kick them around.
