I was not able to find total medals over all Olympics but was able to find counts over the last five Olympics: In the 2004 Olympics, the United States won the most medals with 28 and Australia won the second most with 15. In the 2000 Olympics, the United States won the most medals with 33 and Australia won the second most with 18. In the 1996 Olympics, the United States won the most medals with 26 and Australia and Germany tied for second most with 12. In the 1992 Olympics, the United States won the most medals with 27 and Germany won the second most with 11. In the 1988 Olympics, the East Germany won the most medals with 28 and the United States won the second most with 18.
