James Naismith is the creator of the best game in the world...Basketball. He wrote the original 13 rules,and coached basketball from 1898-1907 at the University of Kansas. His parents were Scottish immigrants. He was the eldest child of Margaret and John Naismith. His parents died when he was 9 of Typhoid fever. He was then raised be his strict religious grandmother and his Uncle Peter. He suffered a major brain hemorrhage and passed away when he was just 78 years old, he is buried in Memorial Park Cemetery in Lawrence, KS. He lived from 1861-1939. James A. Naismith is actually one of my ancestors.
