Lou Gehrig. The Yankees were the first team to use numbers, and originally used where the player hit in the batting order. Ruth batted third and Gehrig fourth, and thus were numbers 3 and 4. Both numbers are retired.

Pete Rose used a variety of bats during his major league quest to break Ty Cobb's hit record. However, the most common size and weight for his bat was 33 1/2 inches long and 33.8 ounces heavy.

Lou Gehrig knew about his illness and went out holding his head high. There was no controversy for him. He remains 'The Pride of the Yankees'. I would imagine that others, such as Stephen Hawking, gather inspiration from Gehrig's speech and use it to lift them up when they consider what they must face in life. Gehrig was a fighter. He refused to hold his team back and retired from baseball rather than be less than he could be. I admire Hawing as much because he has remained productive mentally as his body has deteriorated. Lou Gehrig set the standard for coping with ALS.

In the year 1824 a scientist named Charles Bell published a paper discussing this previously unknown disease called Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. In 1939, baseball player Lou Gehrig contracted this disease. Since he was so well known at the time, the disease was nicknamed the Lou Gehrig Disease.

Lou Gehrig established ethos in his speech by emphasizing his personal connection to the audience through his struggles with ALS, his reputation as a respected baseball player known for his integrity and dedication, and his acceptance of his fate with grace and courage.

Any type of bat under the Anderson name. They use double-wall construction so the ball bounces off the bat like crazy. A little expensive but WORTH IT!!
Depends on your size. A freshman could use the same type of bat as a senior could. I would go with the newest nike bat though because they are always good
