The expression "a hole in one" came from, on a golf course, when someone would take only one shot to get it into the hole.
In the 1967 Tony Jacklin had a hole in one, live on BBC's Grandstand. The first hole in one on live british television.
Theoretically, the "highest" score (and thereby the worst possible score) is infinite. In practice, most amateurs limit a hole's score to 10 strokes, making the maximum carded score (score written on a score card) 180 (or +108 on a par-72 course).

In golf there is a certain number of strokes or hits of the ball that is required to finish the hole in, this is called par. If a person gets the ball into the hole one stroke or ball hit under par this is called birdie. It means you completed the hole faster than the average completion rate for the hole.

One hole is the exit hole for the fluid to flow out. The other hole is the entrance hole for air to flow in, to prevent formation of a vacuum. You can pour most fluids with only one hole, but flow will be intermittent as air flows back up the exit hole to break the vacuum that is stopping flow of the fluid.
