Both are very popular with fans, and are watched both in person and on TV (as well as listened to on the radio). Both tend to be played mainly by boys and men (although there are some girls who play at the Little League level in Baseball and Pop Warner level in football, there have not been any female players who advanced to the professional level). Both require the winning team to have scored more than the losing team. And while there are versions of these sports that are now played all over the world, both are an important part of American sports history, especially from the late 1800s to the present day.
