The 2 Wild Card teams in the American League will play each other in a one-game playoff and the 2 Wild Card teams in the National League will play each other in a one-game playoff. The winner of the one-game playoff will advance and will play the team with the best record and the other two teams will face off against one another. The first round of playoffs are called the Division Series, whichever team wins 3 games wins the series and advances to the next round which is the Championship Series which leaves it down to just 2 teams in each league which means they'll have to play each other. Not sure where this is going. I'm going to answer this assuming you're asking about how the wild card works. There are three divisions in each league. East, West, and Central. Because there are only three divisions, that means that two of the divisions will play against each other in the post season, but the other division will be left with nobody to play. The wild card spot goes to the team who has the next best record. The wild card evens out the playoff bracket.
The playoff race in Baseball is when the teams from each league play to have the highest game winning to make it to the playoffs and try to get to the world series. One team from each division makes it and the teams that come in fourth in each League get the wild card and also advance.
