Five wins was the total for Jim "Catfish" Hunter (1946-1999), who was on 3 World Series teams for the Oakland A's before signing in 1975 with the Yankees, who won in 1977 and 1978. Reggie Jackson similarly had 5, but only 4 actually played in.
David Cone had 5 wins as well, his first after the Mets traded him to the Toronto Blue Jays late in 1992. Paul O'Neill likewise had one in Cincinnati and four more with the Yankees.
The latest players are Johnny Damon and Eric Hinskeof the Yankees, who won in 2009. Like Babe Ruth, they also won World Series with the Boston Red Sox.

Robinson's 9 base hits tied the World Series record for most base hits by a player in a 5 game World Series. This is still the record for a 5 game Series ... the last player accomplishing this was Sean Casey of the Tigers in the 2006 World Series.
There was no World Series in 1870. The first World Series was in 1903.

Before 1978 official league baseballs were used in the world series. When the World Series was played in the American League ballpark, an official American League baseball was used, National League ballpark, National League baseball. The baseballs were not specially marked for the World Series. Rawlings started to make World Series baseballs in 1978 that features The World Series logo.
