We just bought a used air hockey table and the puck doesnt slide very well on the top surface anymore so should we wax it or do we need a new fan or what?

We had the same problem but I tried the following and became significantly better:
-With power off, spray some furniture polish on a rag and apply thoroughly on to the surface of the table.
-Spray the same polish on to the bottom of the strikers as well.
- Use a bar soap and rub onto the bottom of the puck.
