He was MVP of the 1971 World Series, in which Clemente's Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the defending champion Baltimore Orioles in seven games. The Gold Glove rightfielder made several key defensive plays, batted .414, and collected at least one hit in every game of the Series. He also hit a solo homer in the Pirates 2-1 victory in Game 7.

Roberto Clemente played 18 seasons all for the Pittsburgh Pirates. He played from 1955 to 1972 and was inducted into the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame in 1973.
