This question is phrased the wrong way! The answer is, almost everyone! The question should be, which players HAVE scored 30,000 points in the NBA. The answer would be: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar 38,387 Karl Malone 36,928 Michael Jordan 32,292 Wilt Chamberlain 31,419
I think th answer has to do with back in the day before Lew Alcindor (Kareem Abdul-Jabbar) enrolled at UCLA (1965) the NCAA made dunking illegal in fear that he would score at will. This resulted in Kareem setting a UCLA scoring record of 56 points in his first game. If you watch old clips of Kareem in college you will only see him doing hook shots and never dunking.
If you are talking about a team, the Detroit Pistons outscored the Denver Nuggets 186-184. The game was tied at 145 at the end of regulation, and it went into triple overtime. If you are talking about an individual, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar scored over 38,000 points in his lifetime. Kareem has retired, though, and Shaquille O'Neal is still playing, and he is one of the top scorers, so Shaquille might break the record one day.
