Each Major League team can have 25 players on their active roster. This was true in 1995. There was a brief time in the 80s when Major League teams all put just 24 men on their roster as part of their labor dispute with the players. In regular season games in September and October teams can carry 40 players on their active roster. Other than those exceptions, the active roster has been set at 25 for decades.

How do players get in the Major League Baseball 08 the show?

In order for players to be playable players in "MLB 08 The Show," they must have played at least 1 game in the previous Major League Baseball season and they cannot be 1 of the players that are known as "replacement players" meaning players who played during the 1995 season while there was a Baseball strike ongoing, this is because the replacement players are banned from entering into the Players' Association which means they cannot be in any games that are under license with Major League Baseball and the Players' Association.

When rugby union become professional?

When Rugby split and became Union (the original code) and league it was because northern clubs which were all union at the time found that their best players were being "encouraged" to move south of the UK (where Rugby started at the time) to seek work. Union was until 1995 a amateur game so no wages were paid for playing the game. In 1922 the drain on northern clubs became so bad that it demanded of the RFU that they pay players for each game. The union management of the time refused and the northern clubs set up the Rugby League and broke away from the RFU. in 1995 the IRFU decided to "open the game" and allow players to become professional and therefore receive payment for their services, they became professional
