The present-day Tennessee Titans began as the Houston Oilers in 1960 in the American Football League. The Oilers made the playoffs five times in the AFL era, winning the first two AFL championships (1960 and '61). Following the 1970 merger the Oilers made the playoffs ten times, and have made the playoffs six times as the Titans. The franchise's playoff record is 14-19.
