Others would give them similar prizes, including vats of olive oil. If their victory was outstanding, sculptors would make them statues and poets would sing odes about them.

It is also claimed that after the winner athlete returned to his home city they would pull down the city walls since they were no longer needed. The athletes who were taking part in the Olympic games knew that they would be honored for the rest of their lives and they would have the most important thing, eternal glory! And they were right since we still remember them and will honor them in the years to come.
