Wilma Rudolph was a hero because she fought polio and did something no one thought she could do. She was 4 when she was diagnosed with polio. At 7 she learned to walk with leg braces and then learned how to walk on her own. Even though she was diagnosed with polio she ended up being a running champion. She won many races despite her disability. She was a hero because she showed the whole world that even if you have a disability you can do whatever you put your mind to. That is why Wilma Rudolph is a hero.
