It is my personal experience that nothing is impossible. However, I have to say that the odds are stacked against you. It would take a great deal of determination and very dedicated and consistent hardwork - and that is assuming you already have a coach that is capable of coaching at the elite level. I coached an 11 year old level 6 who came from another gym. Up to that point she hadn't accomplished anything in particular. She hadn't won a state championship nor had she been singled out as a candidate for advanced gymnastics training by her previous coaches, with the exception of a good friend of mine who sent her to my gym. As it turned out, she also had less of a chance than most at that point, but I never said it was impossible. I outlined what it would take in order for her to reach the elite level and have a chance at making the Olympic team. While she was with me for the next 18 months she won the beam title at Level 6 state and placed 2nd all around to her teammate. She then began training level 8 and won the AA, bars and floor at states and placed 2nd AA and won bars at regionals. She immediately began working towards Level 10 after regionals. I was injured and couldn't complete her training so she went to a good friend of mine's gym and made it to Level 10 nationals that year and then qualified as an elite and finally made the national team. Ultimately she became the alternate for the Olympic team and reached the goal she set for herself while a level 6 at my gym. It is important to note that while she was still a level 6 gymnast, her future Olympic teammates were already training at the elite level. So the point is that so long as you have the physical ability, the willingness to do whatever it takes, the necessary elite-level coaching and adequate family and financial support I wouldn't rule it out. It would take a monumental effort however and that is something you will have to decide for yourself - and very soon. Good luck.
