it wasnt as much "replacing" as much as a change of pace. When Ash had to go to the Hoenn region, Misty simply couldn't come. May was a new trainer who happened to come upon the remaining group (Brock/Tracy*?* and Ash, i think) and ended up joining the quest.

∙ 13y agoProbably because the voice actor went away or something like that or for the story line I have never watched the entire series with may in it only clip. so i would not know if that is the reason
