Rocky Bleier was drafted by Pittsburgh in 1968. But he was drafted into the US Army in December, 1968 and volunteered to fight in Vietnam, where he earned a Bronze Star. In an ambush, he was seriously wounded in both legs, receiving the Purple Heart and spending many weeks in a Tokyo military hospital. Returning to the US, it took him three years to get back to his former physical shape, but he went on to earn 4 Super Bowl rings with the Steelers.
