First of all oatmeal because it keeps you full so you won't eat other items before the run! Lots of water(but not to much) fruits, nutrition bars, no sugary food like some cereals, and pop tarts. Also you could have a bagel with low fat cream cheese or none at all. No butter. Or bread with a small amount of jelly, peanut butter, or honey. Here's what I do

Bread with peanut butter and honey

Some Cheerios

Water

And I can run for a mile!

no a long run is considered a workout and if u eat a large meal before a workout it slows down ur digestion and can cause an upset stomach or diarrhea
