As part of a sensible diet and regular exercise, yes. Besides the relatively small amount of calories burned during weight lifting, regular weight lifting can help to increase muscle mass, which in turn increases resting metabolism. Regular weight lifting is recommended for all healthy individuals.
Yes def, low weight/high reps. Not resting for more than 60 secs between sets to keep ya heart rate up. Also get a good healthy eating plan and sleep pattern going to help your body metabolise fat. Hoped I helped :)
Yes, you can lose weight by cardio walking and lifting weights. In fact, that is the recommended combination for losing weight. It is the way that nearly all fitness models and bodybuilders reduce their percentage of body fat to improve their body composition.
Assuming that you are eating well (healthy foods), you should do both mild cardio training and strength training regularly to lose fat. You will not only look and feel better, but you will be healthier as well. The strength training will increase your muscle mass and that will enable you to burn more calories 24 hours a day. Brisk, cardio walking will enable you to burn additional calories during and immediately after your walks.
Furthermore, the combination of the two is sustainable (whereas, for example, combining running and weight training is not sustainable for most people). For more information about how to build muscle and burn fat, or how to do cardio walking for weight loss, see the page links, further down this page. listed under Related Questions.
It's possible but unlikely. To use up an important amount of calories(which will help with weight loss) you need to get your heart rate up and keep it up for some time. And weight training just isn't hard or consistent enough work in that way.
Weight training is usually for bulking up (gaining muscle), but yes.. you can lose FAT weight.. but gain MUSCLE weight (muscle weighs more than fat). You can lower your body composition via weight training (lower body comp is good). It's hard to explain, but you can lose fat and still gain weight by weight training is what I'm trying to say.
I'm not at all an expert, but I have read into this and I've found that for one pound of fat you have, you will burn a set number of calories in activity. Where as for every pound of muscle you have, you will burn MORE than that pound of fat in activity. Another thing is that, yes, you need cardio to loose weight, but cardio will just make you appear smaller. It's the lifting that will really change your body shape and even function. Good luck with lifting! =)
Losing fat by lifting weights is completely possible. Weight training is an activity which makes your muscles work, your heart rate go up and your metabolism work better, which makes it burn calories. This is why lifting weights in itself can already make you lose a lot of weight.
I would also like to partially disagree with Timothy's comment. There is not a one exact way or routine that makes you lose weight. Many people lose weight with high weights/low reps, since it stimulates muscle growth much better than low weight/high reps. Also, it is not true that lifting burns relatively low amount of calories compared to other exercises. Weight training is anaerobic exercising which makes your body burn calories in a longer time span, since when your muscles recover, they burn fat even better than aerobic exercising.
You only have to lose weight before weightlifting if you choose too. Any fat will be converted to muscle.
The lightest one of weightlifting is feather weight.
no
yes, weightlifting is a better way to lose fat because weightlifting requires more energy, and energy = calories, so the more energy you need, the more calories you burn, the more weight you lose.Yes. If you regularly burn up more calories each day than you consume through eating and drinking, you will have to lose weight. That's why bodybuilders tend to eat a lot (of healthy food) AND they also drink those protein shakes which are high-calorie too. They have to take in a lot of calories to support the energy output the give at the gym.
One compound word you can make with "weight" is "weightlifting."
it's contest to see who can lift the most weight.
Weightlifting!
well it depends on where you're starting. If you already fit, then running 1.5 in 20 min probably isn't going to do you a whole lot of good. However, if you're really challenging yourself by running 1.5 in 20 then you have potential to lose a little bit of weight depending upon your diet and other life patterns. Weightlifting probably wont be quite as beneficial in terms of losing weight as cardio activity.
A standard weight plate used for weightlifting typically weighs 10kg.
Weightlifting: Bodybuilding by exercise that involves lifting weights.Bodybuilding is the process of maximizing muscle hypertrophy through the combination of weight training, sufficient caloric intake, and rest.
how to lose weight
Since there are a number of different kinds of weightlifting collars, there is no one answer. Sometimes the weight is marked on them, or you may be able to use a scale to weigh them. None are over 5 lbs.
